New to Big Lake Baseball?  Here's some information for you!

We have two different "groups" within our RC (Roberto Clemente):  the 6 six year olds and a about 1/2 of the 7 year olds normally play each other, and the other half of 7 year-olds play with the 8 year olds.  The $35 registration fee includes a Major League Baseball replica hat and Jersey.

The games in the RC are all played in the Big Lake area, such as the Catholic Church field, the Refuge, and Liberty Elementary ball fields, and Riverside Alliance Fields.  The times are all in the evening, and we stress at the RC age to have fun, learn the game of baseball, and enjoy playing together.

The $40 fundraising is taken care of at Registration.  You can buy the product for $45, or opt-out by paying $25, but get nothing in return. We use this as a fundraiser to off-set costs associated with running all of our programs.

Each family is required to supply workers to run the Concession Stand for one shift during the year.  Sign up during Registration.
The registration fee covers only basic operating expenses – equipment, uniforms, and insurance. We must raise additional funds for other needs, such as field improvements and maintenance, cost of uniforms, league fees, etc. To raise this money, we host several tournaments throughout the summer. These tournaments give Big Lake kids a chance to play free of charge, and they bring in money from outside teams in concessions, and entry fees.

Each player needs to go through Evaluations to assess players on abilities to see which team would work the best for him/her.  The top 15 (or so) scores from the 1st evaluation get invited back for a 2nd evaluation, including those who didn't attend the first evaluation.  The players that earned the top 8 scores of the combined evaluations automatically earn a chance to be on the "AAA team."  Four other players are chosen by the coaches to be included on that team.  The players that don't make it will be placed on equal (as close as we can) teams.  For Willie Mays, the players placed on AA teams will play against Becker and other Big Lake teams.

Starting in 2008, our Willie Mays, Pee Wee Reese, and Sandy Koufax AA teams will all play local communities.  Willie Mays AA (9 & 10) will play Becker and Big Lake teams.  Pee Wee Reese (11 & 12) and Sandy Koufax (13 & 14) will play Big Lake, Monticello, and Becker teams.  This will reduce the amount of travel for all participants in our AA program.
